Connecticut's Political Landscape

Connecticut is a state that continuously receives an "A" rating by NARAL Pro-Choice America. PPCPPF is working with other pro-choice organizations to keep it that way and preserve pro-choice policy in our state. Planned Parenthood’s 2007 legislative agenda included passing a bill which would require all publicly funded hospitals in Connecticut provide emergency contraception to victims of rape. Click here for more information about this bill.

The Connecticut legislative session began on February 6, 2008 and Planned Parenthood of CT Public Policy Fund will be working on key issues protecting reproductive health and rights. We need your support during this session as we advocate and promote strong policy to preserve and protect rights. Some of the issues we will be focusing on include:

The Healthy Teens Act will ensure that Connecticut’s youth have access to medically accurate, age-appropriate sex education providing them with the necessary skills to make safe and responsible choices surrounding their sexual health. For more info on the bill, click here.

Anti-discrimination legislation which would include gender identity and expression in Connecticut's non-discrimination laws.

• Defend and protect reproductive rights and work to prevent obstacles or legislation that would harm access and delivery of reproductive health care and abortion.
