Connecticut's
Political Landscape |
On
November 7th, pro-choice candidates were victorious
around the state of Connecticut, and we continue to
have a pro-choice majority in both the state House
and Senate. Planned Parenthood of CT Public Policy
Fund (PPCPPF) worked on identifying pro-choice
voters for the 2006 election which helped contribute
to the success of many pro-choice candidates on
Election Day.
Connecticut is a state that continuously receives an
"A" rating by
NARAL Pro-Choice
America. PPCPPF is working with other pro-choice
organizations to keep it that way and preserve
pro-choice policy in our state.
As our legislative session begins this January,
PPCPPF will again turn our attention to the need for
compassionate care for rape victims who are treated
at any hospital in Connecticut. This includes
receiving a full dose of emergency contraception in
the hospital, in order to prevent an unintended
pregnancy as the result of the rape.

PPCPPF will also continue oppose federal cuts to
Medicaid. We will promote Medicaid funding of
medical interpretation services and we’ll work to
ensure that reproductive health care is part of any
universal health plan adopted in Connecticut.
